Ramsgate, a seaside town of about 40,000 people, is situated in the county of Kent and was a popular tourist destination in the 19th and early 20th century. The coast is still the town's main attraction today, and the marina, which holds 800 moorings, is one of the largest in the south of England; a number of ferries also begin their journeys from port Ramsgate.
The beach at Ramsgate is Blue Flag awarded, and the sand provides a popular sunbathing spot for tourists and locals in the summer months.
