New Romney is a small seaside town on the edge of Romney Marsh and is of similar age as neighbouring, Old Romney. As one of the Cinque Ports, New Romney was a crucial part of England's naval defence for much of its history, but the silting up of the River Rother left New Romney stranded inland and these days it is about a mile from the seafront.
