The picturesque market town of Edenbridge is situated 26 miles from London, close to the borders of Surrey and Sussex. The High Street, a former Roman Road was an ancient route between London and Lewes crossing the River Eden. Today, many timbered medieval buildings survive in the old town along the High Street. Around it are a number of villages and smaller communities, including some across the county borders, which look to Edenbridge as a 'Rural Service Centre'.
