Broadstairs is a quaint seaside town in the county of Kent, and is often referred to as the gem of the Isle of Thanet, where it is located. Property for sale in Broadstairs goes very quickly, due to the town's numerous attractions; one of its main appeals lies in the fact that it has seven sandy beaches: Viking Bay, Louisa Bay, Dumpton Gap, Botany Bay, Stone Bay and Joss Bay.
Botany Bay and Joss Bay were both presented with the Blue flag rural beach award in 2005, while Viking Bay beach, the main beach in Broadstairs, won the Blue Flag in 2006. There are a number of cafes and ice cream outlets on all the beaches, and the town also boasts a castle - King's Castle - which was built in the 1760s and is now a private residence. Charles Dickens was a regular visitor to the area, and he wrote David Copperfield in the town's Bleak House which overlooks Broadstairs.
