Stevenage was developed after World War II around the original Stevenage, now called Stevenage Old Town. The pedestrianised town centre was the first traffic-free shopping zone in the UK, and is due to undergo major regeneration during the next few years. Stevenage has been selected by property experts to be one of the next investment hotspots, particularly for the buy to let market. Adjoining the residential parts of the town is the industrial area, which is home to several large companies, such as British Aerospace, Glaxosmithkline and IBM, providing good local employment opportunties. Two of the most sought after areas to live are in Old Stevenage Town and on Great Ashby housing development. The estate agents in Stevenage have a variety of properties for sale, including Victorian terraced houses in the Old Town area, a selection of properties built in the 1950s and 1960s, bungalows and houses built on brand new developments.
