Havant is a large town situated between Chichester and Portsmouth in the county of Hampshire. London, Brighton and Portsmouth are all in easy reach by train, making the town popular with commuters looking for property for sale in Havant. With a population of 115,000, this is a thriving town that enjoys an attractive rural setting and good amenities both in the town of Havant itself and in the nearby towns and cities. The town has an interesting history, with a major fire in the 18th century destroying much of the original village of Havant. What remains are the church, which has foundations believed to date back to Roman times, and some adjacent cottages, dating from the 16th and 17th century, and these properties are now used as a pub. Havant benefits from a good transport network, including bus, train and roads, with the A3 motorway running to the west of the town. The main shopping centre, Meridian Shopping serves the community well with a range of stores, and Havant also has an Arts Centre.
