Fleet has a population of 30,000 people and sits in the south east of England, in the county of Hampshire. The town can be reached from London via the M3 motorway and is only 38 miles away from the capital. The Fleet Pond is now a popular nature reserve and beauty spot on the northern edge of the town. It was, in fact, also the reason for the town's growth from a small market town to the large town it is today, as people from nearby towns and villages came to skate on Fleet Pond during the winter months. The pond is also the largest freshwater lake in Hampshire. With natural beauty, great cities and a thriving new housing development underway, it is little wonder that many people are looking for property for sale in Fleet.
After the period of growth in the 19th century, Fleet's Victorian buildings would have made up much of the town's properties. But many of these Fleet properties were ruined in the Second World War and because of this, much of the housing in the town today is post war and even newer. Fleet has expanded further since the 1980s with new housing estates being built at Ancells Farm and Elvetham Heath. Elvetham Heath will be completed in 2007, and is one of the UK's largest new housing developments.
