Mayfield is a large village in north-east Sussex, eight miles south of Tunbridge Wells. The village sign shows a young woman in a field, reflecting the original Saxon name, Maghefeld, or Maid's Field. There is also a bus service between Heathfield and Tunbridge Wells which passes through Mayfield.
