Hove is a town on the south coast of England to the west of Brighton, in the county of East Sussex. As part of local government reforms, Brighton and Hove were merged to form the borough of Brighton & Hove in 1997. In 2000 the combined towns officially attained city status. But though it is very much part of the Brighton scene, Hove retains its own distinct identity. As Hove is more residential, it enjoys a quieter pace of life, with the buzz of Brighton a mere stones throw away. Families and older peolple tend to prefer Hove to the thronging centre of Brighton.
