Seaton occupies flat land at the mouth of the River Axe, with the ancient harbour of Axmouth to the east and the white cliffs of Beer to the west. The South West Coastal Path passes along Seaton's mile long, sandy beach which is enjoyed by bathers, sailors, divers and windsurfers. In 2001 Seaton's coastline was awarded World Heritage Site status as it is possible to take a geological walk through time and pass three eras of rocks formed over a period of 185 million years.
