Property for sale in Askam-in-Furness
Askam-in-Furness and the neighbouring village of Ireleth merged over the years and are now one entity, edged by green fields and hills and a long sandy beach that lines the Duddon estuary. Large iron ore deposits were discovered in 1850 and, to smelt the ore, furnaces were constructed and terraces of houses built for the workers. The industrial buildings were demolished in 1933 but the massive breakwater, built with slag from the works, is a reminder of Askam-in-Furness' industrial heritage.

Estate agents in Askam-in-Furness also represent new-build detached houses with integral garages offering four or more bedrooms, and a few substantial older properties in rural settings. Almost all the houses for sale in Askam-in-Furness have the benefit of being within walking distance of the beach.
