Sandbach is a very pretty town with about 18,000 residents and many beautiful buildings. Permission to hold a market was granted by Elizabeth I in 1579 and a market is still held every week on Scotch Common. Sandbach, pronounced Sandbatch, is famous for its Saxon Crosses situated in the cobbled market square. English Heritage cares for the two sandstone structures, which the Town Council has adopted for its logo.
