Sandhurst is a small town with 22,000 inhabitants, located in the south-eastern corner of the County of Berkshire, and home to the Royal Military Academy. The arrival of the railway in 1849 led to a great expansion of the local population and to the construction of many houses, schools, pubs and churches. From the late 1950s to the 1980s, large housing estates were built, merging the original four villages of College Town, Sandhurst, Little Sandhurst and Owlsmoor into the Sandhurst of today.
