Restored farmhouse complex overlooking the Gulf of Salerno
This is a small complex of stone farm buildings in the protected Cilento National Park near the Gulf of Salerno in Campania. The main farmhouse and
part of a smaller additional villino have been completely restored
using local stone, chestnut wood and tiles and currently offer 3 independent apartments, with the possibility of a 4th.
The 1st unit or owner’s apartment is the ground floor of the main farmhouse and consists of an open plan living space of 75 sq. metres, with
stone archways, chestnut windows and doors and incorporating a traditional kitchen as well as
separate bath and shower rooms finished with Vietri tiles. A traditional hatchway leads down to a 20 sq. metre cellar, also accessible by an outside door on the downhill side. This cellar provides useful storage space and is
plumbed for use as a laundry room.
The 2nd apartment is on the 1st floor of the farmhouse and has an independent outside entrance, but also
an internal staircase to the ground floor. This is closed by a door when the apartment is let, but the whole house can be enjoyed as a single entity when required. The accommodation consists of: a fitted kitchen and dining area, a
sitting room , 1 double bedroom with en suite bathroom, 1 single bedroom and a shower room. All rooms have large windows looking out over the property and the mountain and sea views beyond.
The 3rd apartment is on
the 1st floor of the smaller farm building , or villino. This building is
above the main house and is separated from it by a series of lovely outdoor sitting areas leading off to the grounds beyond. This area of 40 sq. metres
has been completely restored to the same standard as the main house and consists of a combined kitchen/living room, a shower room and double bedroom with views.
A 4th apartment could be obtained by restoring the ground floor of the same building.
Outbuildings, grounds and services
Stone and terracotta terraces and covered porticos surround the buildings. The central court leads to an ideal site for a swimming pool with views of
the coastline and mountains. 40 square metres of ruin near this site could be rebuilt as a pool house or outdoor kitchen. The rustic gardens
of about 1 hectare have olive and fruit trees and ancient vines at the back of the property
which offer beauty and bounty – the current owner enjoys his own wine and olive oil. Abundant macchia mediterranea, bouganvillea, wisteria and other native plants surround the property.
Mains water, electricity and gas are connected and the apartments have central heating . The nearest village with shops and other amenities is 3 kms away, and Naples airport
can be reached in 1 hour
