This substantial property is located in the heart of the Chianti country between Greve and Panzano, and enjoys delightful views over vineyards towards the Villa
Vignamaggio made additionally famous as the set for the film of Shakespeare’s “Much ado about nothing” with Richard Branagh and Emma Thompson. The main house, which is of traditional stone construction, has been restored to a very high
standard with a creative style of interior decoration. It is on 2 floors plus a loft and the accommodation consists of:- on the ground floor
a large square sitting room with an open fireplace,
cloakroom, a good-sized wine cellar, a long dining room, a
fitted country kitchen/ dining area with a central island, open fireplace and a
large walk-in pantry. The kitchen door leads out onto a shady terrace for summertime eating out.
The floors are of traditional terracotta tiles throughout. On the 1st floor there are:
a study, with direct access to the garden which slopes down alongside the house, a huge (nearly 50 sq.m.) master bedroom with magnificent oak beams and a terracotta tile ceiling with adjoining bathroom, dressing room and walk-in wardrobes. Also on this
floor are 3 further bedrooms and a 2nd bathroom, a laundry room and a large sitting room with fireplace. In the loft is a 5th bedroom with ensuite shower room and an adjoining storage area under the eaves. There is gas-fired under floor
heating throughout the house.
Outbuildings, grounds and services
A fully restored single storey guest house has been made out of the old hay barn, located near the main entrance gate to the property. It has a large kitchen /
living room and 1 double bedroom with en suite. The garden is well planted with a variety of flowering shrubs and trees, there are several paved areas and terraces for sitting out and a large outdoor kitchen/barbecue area as well as an 8 m. by 12 m. pool.
The garden is fenced and partially walled and closed with attractive wrought iron gates. The still productive vineyard, certified Chianti Classico with San Giovese grapes,
covers an area of nearly 1 hectare. There is also a substantial olive grove and the total extent of the property is about 3 hectares.
