Finding the Heart of Bow
One of East London's largest regeneration projects, which has become synonymous with the London Olympics, is nearing completion and the jewels in the crown have now been released - five stunning penthouse apartments, two of which have already been reserved.
The Heart of Bow development, on the junction of Tredegar Road and Parnell Road, was launched the same day as London's successful bid for the 2012 Olympics was announced and is the nearest new development to the planned Olympic Village.
The penthouses boast panoramic views over the Olympic Village, Canary Wharf and further afield, with the largest one offering 1,264 square feet of living space as well as large balconies from which to view the London scene.
It is not only the views which are breathtaking. The specification vies with the best in the capital and includes air-conditioning, a spa bath in the main bathroom, double shower to the en-suite and wood flooring.
The warmth, integrity and pride of the East End people is the 'Heart' in 'Heart of Bow'. There are few places today where you can walk into a pub a stranger and walk out a friend. This openness and acceptance of an individual for who they are is the reason why Bow has people from all walks of life and many cultures - but one proud community.
The East End has become rather popular with Hollywood directors and singing megastars who have embraced it lock, stock and barrel. Our favourite TV soap follows the lives of a typical East End square and its launderette - be assured that every one of our apartments has its own washing machine. In fact the whole area has become v. trendy with an influx of designer shops, bars and restaurants offering every sort of cuisine.
But be reassured in a world of fads and fashions Bow will always be a real place to live. Because it has real markets, real bargains, real boozers, real barbers, real shaves and real people.
'Heart of Bow' perfectly describes its position geographically. Just a short stroll away, Bow Road underground is the nearest public transport and offering direct access to the Hammersmith & City Line or the District Line - as little as four stops into the City at Bank.
Only one stop further on from Bow Road, Mile End offers a swift switch onto the Central Line and you go from East End to West End in a mere eight stops. Whilst Bow Church DLR takes you to Canary Wharf in only five stops. Mainline rail links are also excellent with Liverpool Street three stops away, Kings Cross just seven and Waterloo only eleven stops, with Stratford well within walking distance.
Also within walking distance is the bus station where there are a myriad of options, too many to mention here.
By car you travel the two miles to the Blackwall Tunnel before your engine oil even gets warm. And the 4 mile journey to City Airport will just about get it to optimum temperature.
Of course there will be times when you don't want to go anywhere very fast. That's when the East End's 400 acres of open space comes into its own. Victoria Park is a shining example of this manicured calm. It was the first park to be opened to Londoners in 1842 and is just a ten minute walk away from the 'Heart of Bow'.
