Morayshire is renowned for its excellent leisure and tourist facilities and its varied and unspoilt countryside.  Spectacular golden sandy beaches are close by at Findhorn, Lossiemouth and Nairn.  There is an excellent range of golf courses in the area with a course at Elgin, two courses at Lossiemouth and a championship course at Nairn.  For the sporting enthusiast the Rivers Spey and Findhorn provide world class salmon fishing.  Private schooling is available to the north of Elgin at Gordonstoun and Aberlour House about 10 miles from Wester Millbuies.  Communications are straightforward with the A96 trunk road and regional railway running through Elgin and connecting to both Aberdeen and Inverness, 70 and 42 miles away respectively.  Both these cities have airports with a good range of domestic and some international flights.

For the farming community Elgin provides a range of services to agriculture and there are livestock markets at Huntly, Inverurie and Dingwall all within easy travelling distance of the property.

Wester Millbuies is immediately to the south of the small village of Fogwatt and the Millbuies Country Park.  It enjoys a remarkably private and truly spectacular location.  A hard surfaced farm road continues beyond the entrance to the country park through woodland before extending to Wester Millbuies House where the drive splits to serve the house, Wester Millbuies cottage and the farm steading. Thereafter an unsurfaced track leads into the land as far as the ruins of Easter Millbuie.
